Free java phone apps, this is a survey of free Java applications, tools, utilities and virtual machine for small portable devices such as PDAs, handheld PCs and mobile phones. Virtual machines
NanoVM is the implementation (less than 8 kB native code includes a simple class and bootloader) smaller than the Java VM. Currently runs on Linux and the AVR microcontroller family. Unix / Linux is supported as the main development and testing platform, while the VM is primarily intended for use on small embedded devices such as the AVR. VM can very easily be ported to other targets.
Ewe
Ewe is a programming system that lets you write applications that run exactly the same, unchanged, on desktop systems, on mobile systems, and even within a Web browser as an Applet. Ewe are implemented as Java class libraries are strong and small VM. VM is a small and efficient enough to be easily installed and run on mobile 32-bit systems. VM currently exists for the system PalmPC, PocketPC and HandHeldPC. VM is also there for the Casio BE-300 Pocket Manager and Sharp Zaurus. It is provided under the LGPL.
Aegis VM Project
Aegis VM Project is an ongoing effort to develop a machine; the virtual light is safe to execute Java byte code. VM is intended to be an extension framework for applications or devices that dynamically load and run the trusted extensions. Aegis VM will eventually display a modular byte code verification architecture, Proof Linking, which supports pluggable verification modules so that various static verification or analysis technology can be integrated into the VM’s dynamic linking process with minimal effort.
